Widening the Circle

Widening the Circle is a humorous, thought-provoking dance theater production that weaves a series of duets into an evening of spoken word, dance and video projections. Fellow Travelers Performance Group Choreographer and Artistic Director, Cynthia Adams, is joined by dancer Paula McArthur in a variety of dance theater pieces with topics of social and women’s issues:

“Diversions, Distractions and Digressions” (2024) with original sound score created by Amy X Neuberg the piece revisits questions of life, purpose and meaning and the tactics that lead down different paths of distraction. Quirky, with gestural movements and spoken word the duet invites the audience on a journey down a rabbit hole of questions.

"The Great Regression" (2023) blends concepts and ideas from women’s rights.

"Lockdown” (2022) is a piece in reaction to school shootings.

"Project Earth" (2020) uses text from the late environmentalist David Bower.

"A Women’s Perspective" (2018) manipulates stereotypical ideas around women.

At times funny and whimsical, at times dark and emotional, always thought provoking. Blurring the edge of dance and theater with text and movement and audience participation.
